How hard is it to get a job on a dude ranch?

If I drive to Colorado or Wyoming looking for work, how long would it take me to find a job? I’m looking for something permanent and year round. Would it be better to apply online first? have maintenance and carpentry experience. Also I have outdoor experience in camping, hiking, all types of cycling, and rock climbing.

Dude ranch = If you own a pickle, you are qualified.

I can’t answer your question directly…but… I suspect to a certain extent you will get what you pay for. Possibly you could extend your search to Canada or Mexico also.

What dude ranch should my family go to?

We’re a family of 6, 5 kids ranging in age 17-27. We want a legit experience, staying in a cabin, riding horses, hiking, etc. It really doesn’t have to be fancy, we just need a reasonable price. Or if you know of a reasonably priced all-inclusive resort in the caribbean or Mexico?

Looking dude ranch vacations near illinois…?

I’m looking to go on a vacation next spring to a dude/guest ranch.
I want it to have unlimited riding all day and where you are kind of just assigned a horse and you have it for your whole stay. It can have any type of activities but my only request is that it has unlimited riding. I already have one option that lets guests have a horse during their stay and ride them around without a guide, but it’s 6 hours away. If anyone knows of any good guest ranches, let me know!

i live in central il and have never even heard of anything like this around here. I guess there might be some in southern il, and i think i saw one in northern arkansas try the website http://www.guestranches.com

I live in Florida so I won’t be able to drive home on my day off and get what I need. Help please, any and all suggestions will be very helpful.

You definitely need to contact the ranch and ask them this question – they will be able to help you a lot. Clothing wise – you will definitely need warmer clothes than Florida. Even though it’s summer the nights in WY can be very chilly, especially if you are in the mountainous areas. I would bring your Ipad or some computer with appropriate card. Don’t assume they will have wifi b/c they may not.

If you will be riding horses you had better start getting in shape, like right now. You should have already been doing this but anything is better than nothing at this point. If you have never ridden you will be sore in muscles you didn’t know you had.

Bring plenty of hats! Nice gloves. Binoculars. Sunscreen. That’s all I can think of now.

Have fun – what a great job. I bet you will have an incredible experience and one hell of a lot of fun!!

I thought a dude ranch was a ranch full of sexy cowboys.But apparently I’m wrong.

A dude ranch is where people go to role play at being cowboys. It is all fakery. A dude ranch employs actors. A guest ranch is a working ranch with real cowboys where they have guests. There is a BIG difference. People don’t role play at a guest ranch.

What type of social activities would you expect if you vacationed at a gay dude ranch?
