Are Mongolian Nomadic Yurt camps like American Dude Ranches?

I have seen Cowboys raise cattle and horses on Dude Ranches here in The United States all from New Orleans and Texas as far as Montana and all throughout The West. In Mongolia, Cowboys and Nomads raise yaks and mares at Yurt camps throughout Mongolia’s steppes. So, are Mongolian Nomadic Yurt camps like American Dude Ranches?

Similar idea to the nomadic life of US/Canadian, Argentinaian, and Australian "cowboys", but not at all like a dude ranch. (The "dude" in question refers to someone from a large city who knows absolutely NOTHING about "roughing it" or horses and therefore experience it vicariously – being led on horse rides and such.)

can anyone help ive heard about dude ranching recently and im really interested im available asap to go anywhere and start working it seems like it would be and experience of a life time so if anyone knows or has any connections in this field let me know i would appreciate it

It’s not as "glorious" as you think. I see them guys sweating, and freezing in the same day. What I would do is do a search for dude ranches, and see what pops up, then call them and ask them if they are hiring.

Hi my daughter and I are wanting to go to a working dude ranch in north america this summer, perhaps colorado or Wyoming, we both have our own horses and are experienced riders at competition level can anyone recommend anywhere I would be very greatful

I’ve been to a few ranches, but most I’ve visited myself are not working ranches. I suggest you talk with someone at the Dude Ranchers Association. It’s a not-for-profit trade organization with over 100 ranches throughout the Western US and Canada, several are in CO and WY. All of their members have to meet certain criteria and standards for membership. Both Colleen and Katie in the office have visited most of the ranches and can help you find the right fit.

There is a very small, possibly family burial area on or near Pinegrove Dude Ranch property in Kerhonkson NY. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about it?

I am trying to find a fun dude ranch for experenced riders. I have already been to horse shoe canyon ranch so I dont want to go there agian. Any others?

Yea but not worth it Horse Shoe Canyon is your best bet unless you wanna drive into Oklahoma.

someplace where i can go thats affordable, in middle US and has horses and stuff. i think that would be awesome to go to a place like that and bring my horse

Are you thinking of a horseman’s camp? That is where you bring in your own horse to trail ride and camp out, usually they are located in or near state parks. Camping fees vary with the accommodations, depending on the camp you can get anything from primitive camping to fully furnished cabins. Horse accommodations range from picket lines to rented paddocks or stalls. You bring in your own horse, gear and food. You ride out alone or with other campers you buddy up with. Some places have guides for hire and on-site restaurants. Horse camping is a lot of fun, but you have to make sure your horse is ready for it. They are located all over the place, a good resource for finding them is Trail Rider magazine.
