Horse Ranch Themed Fondant Cake

February 272010

This is a fondant birthday cake made for a gentleman who loves horses! It’s a fairly small cake but has a lot of fun elements in it. It’s my first time adding barbed wire to a cake! All elements are made out of gumpaste and the cake is a yellow vanilla butter cake with Italian Meringue Buttercream! Yummy!

Royal Horse Ranch Show- Amy and Dubie

February 212010

Well, We’re back from our first show! Dubie was absolutely amazing! We ended up with reserve champion and my best friend, Katie, and her horse, Duchess (Double Duch), went home with champion! I made Dubie’s show name P.S. I Love You, just so you guys know. Sorry some of the video clips are blury. Its like that because my camera sometimes doesn’t focus correctly. And this wasn’t all of our classes, this was only the second day, because of course on the first day, I forgot my camera battery back at where we were staying! I was so mad! And the last video clip in the video, I think my mom was having a seizure or something! HAHA! Ok, well here’s where we placed in our classes:

(First Day)
Warm-up: First
Hunter 1: First
Hunter 2: Second
Eq Over Fences: First
Eq on the Flat: First
Beginner Eq on the Flat: Fourth (out of 11 riders)

(Second Day)
Beginner Hunter U/S: Sixth (Out of 11 horses)
Warm-up: Third
Hunter 3: First
Hunter 4: Fourth
Hunter 5: Fifth
Hunter U/S: Second (Out of 7 horses)

We actually showed in Long Stirrup, which is 18″, but my instructor wanted us to also do the Beginner (2′3″) flat classes, just to see how we’d do. She says that probably by the middle of the show season, me and Dubie will be ready for the Beginners division though. But for now, I just need to keep getting used to my new horsie!
We are having another show this Saturday, April 19th, which is also my birthday, so hopefully we’ll do just as good as we did at this show! That would be a great birthday present!
Well ok, I hope you guys enjoy the video! Please rate and comment! :D

Ranch Cutting and Sorting Horse for Sale

February 182010

http://www.horsetrainingvideos.com Reining and cutting horse trainer, Larry Trocha demonstrates a ranch cutting and sorting horse one of his training clients has for sale.

This is a very cool horse, with lots of STOP and plenty of cow sense and eye appeal.

The horse’s name is Duals Blue Mate.

This 2005 AQHA gelding is 14.2 hands tall and very, very cute.

He has had 8 months on cattle and is ready to be shown in ranch cutting and sorting competition.

With just a little more time, he would also be competitive in the NCHA cuttings.

His sire is Duals Blue Boon (one of the nations top cutting sires, $2,500 stud fee).

His dam is Just Little Mate by Smart Little Mate (also top cutting blood).

This gelding is well trained, easy to ride and the price is dirt-cheap, only $6,000.

If you’d like to purchase this gelding, contact Larry Trocha.
707-480-0507 between 7am and 7pm Pacific Time.

Looking for a horse rescue ranch or vets office that uses volunteers in sothern cali.?

February 142010

I’m just finishing a vet assistant program and am looking to get hands on experience at a horse ranch or an equine vet. even a small animal vet would be great. I live in the High Desert so something close would be great. I could do something in northern Califonia but it would have to include a room.
Thanks

California Coastal Horse Rescue in Ojai, CA

http://www.calcoastalhorserescue.com/

California Coastal Horse Rescue, founded in 2000, cares for those horses that no one else will care for. We provide food, shelter, rehabilitation, medical care, and adoption services for horses that have been abused, abandoned or neglected.

Volunteers comprise California Coastal Horse Rescue and donate their time to feeding, exercising, grooming, and cleaning stalls as well as facility maintenance fundraising, public education and special events. Most important, our volunteers provide daily love and attention for those horses awaiting adoption.

"Our Mission: To rescue abandoned, abused, neglected, and/or slaughter bound horses, and to provide shelter, proper nutrition, medical attention and rehabilitation."

Good luck; that sounds like a rewarding goal!
