Do you know why Bush and Reagan spent so many days at Camp David or on Reagan’s Ranch?

And very few days elsewhere vacationing?

To put the question another way, do you understand why Obama is taken to task so much for taking vacations all over the world while Bush and Reagan were not given a hard time about going to Camp David or Reagan’s Ranch in Santa Barbara?

Look we all know President work all the time regardless of where they are. That is not the point. So can you tell me what the point really is?

The point is: it is much much cheaper for the president to go to a place he already owns OR the government owns.
And, it is much much cheaper for the secret service to protect him at places that already have loads of security in place.
So Bush and Reagan saved taxpayers millions by taking breaks at Camp David.
On the other hand, Obama is costing us millions that WE DO NOT HAVE going to a place that is costing us money we need to save. The country is in dire straights and the President is eating cake when many need bread.

When Bush took vacations were they cheaper for the American Taxpayer since he stayed on his ranch?

No they weren’t – since he was flying his entire staff back and forth to Texas all the time at millions of dollars a pop. And since he spent nearly 1/3rd of his presidency there, it cost even more.

for those vacations.Obama may have taken fewer vacations,but what is the cost verses Bush’s vacations taken at his ranch in Crawford,Tx or the family home in Maine.You can not count Camp David,that is a perk that goes with the job,but tax payer money spent on unnecessary lavish vacations is not.

The problem is the libs love to point out all of the "vacations" Bush took, but never quite give you the full story.

True he spent a lot of those "vacation" days at Camp David. But what they don’t tell you is this is a very secure government complex, full communications and security are already installed. The only difference between Camp David and the White House is it’s in a rural setting with golf courses and other "perks". Been there, seen it, don’t know why the big fuss. Anything comes up it’s a short helicopter flight back to Washington

His trips home to Texas? Again, security is already there to protect the family, it has full communications. When he goes home it still does not require massive plane fulls of personnel and equipment.

Now lets compare to Obama. Martha’s Vinyard? Libs will tell you that Obama paid for his own vacation….this is true. He paid for the rental of the mansion…but not for the cost to fly himself and family there on Air Force1…the two planeloads of armored vehicles, the plane full of secret service agents, their pay and lodging while he vacations.

What is really telling…..he’s doing this just months after getting blasted for the costs of his past vacations to Hawaii and another to Martha’s Vinyard, another to Chicago, other wastefull trips to for the family to Spain…….you get the idea.

His chief spokesman stated “I don’t think Americans out there would begrudge the notion that the president would spend some time with his family.”

True. But us poor, middle class Americans have to settle with taking the family out to a movie (at the cost of about $100 or more)….

This president is an insult!

In all seriousness. the Associated Press reported today, President Obama has announced the latest in a series of family vacations he has planned including a trip to Spain, Chicago, Martha’s Vineyard and now the Gulf coast. “The average employee gets two or three weeks of vacation a year,”, “the President is going on six weeks including a stay in a $50,000 a week villa on Martha’s Vineyard.” Understandably the President has a stressful job but many people have stressful jobs and aren’t granted the benefit of weeks upon weeks of vacation time. It’s quite the double standard for many liberals to have criticized President Bush for vacationing on a ranch he bought with his own money when President Obama is traveling the world on the taxpayer’s dime.

Is obama just going to far and out of touch with the American people with rubbing all his vacations in our faces?

It is arrogance to say the least, he needs to lead by example, nothing would be wrong in his setting up a "Chicago White House" like Bush did in Crawford, or Camp David weekends, but he has pushed it to the limit when at the same time asked American’s to tighten our belts, to take one for the team where job losses are concerned. He is living too high on the hog for a President in touch with the people in my opnion

Seems for all the complaints about how much time Bush was on Vacation,it wasn’t 3000 person trips to India with 34 warships guarding the coast.It was trips to Crawford Ranch,where the only thing we paid for was security.But leave it to Comrade 0bama,by the time he leaves it will be in the Billions just for the wife’s trips.

It seems that every time I turn on the TV I see a story about Obama’s latest vacation. When W. was President, the press screamed if he went to his ranch for a week. But Obama goes hither thither and yon all summer and CNN and MSNBC say nary a word,

He would have to serve 4 terms to be able to catch up to W (Katrina? Oh, we wasn’t watching TV. What happened?) and his 24/7 policy. 24 hours a week, 7 months a year.
