Why did large-scale open-range cattle ranching come to an end in the American West?

January 312010

This if for history class and I have no clue, any insight is helpful or weblinks thanks!

you may not believe it but it was because of sheep. Ya sheep . they were much easier to raise and farmers started raising then and when they did they put up fences. open ranges no longer existed. this was a very big problem. Barbed wire was invented and lots of people were killed over the sheep cattle battle.
