Kenny Brown is a legend of the north Mississippi hill country blues. Here’s some new video, shot on location at Foxfire Ranch in Waterford, MS, about ten miles south of Holly Springs. Every Sunday evening from 5 to 10, the region’s best blues artists perform on a covered outdoor stage here.

   Thanks, I’ll definately check it out, & some of his other stuff. I just thought it was interesting that both songs happened to have that same riff as part of the main theme (if anybody’s wondering what riff I’m refering to, on the harp it’s 4D, 5D, 4B, 3′ D, 2D). That part of the song sounded so familiar, and it took me a few minutes to figure out why. I wish I could afford to make it to the Hill Country Harmonica event, it’ looks like a great location.

   @twoflattires: It’s actually called “France Chance.” I pulled up everything KB had on iTunes and went through the previews. “France Chance” was an old Mississippi Joe Callicott song; MJC was KB’s mentor. I paid for and downloaded the song; I googled and pulled up the lyrics. It’s definitely the song he’s playing here.

   I kept thinking the song Kenny Brown played in this video sounded familiar, and then I figured it out, I’m pretty sure it uses the same main riff as Jason Ricci’s “Done With The Devil”.
